Normal ammonia/sodium Chlorite or MouldEx,
Which One is Better?
Sodium Hypochlorite is a powerful oxidant that is found in normal bleach and many commercial cleaning products. It works by destroying the cells of the moss and algae, with a fast action. It can eliminate moss and algae within minutes to hours, offering quick results. It is available in many domestic products, which making it an affordable option.
The disadvantages are the factors to look out for:
Aggressive for surfaces: It is corrosive and harmful for some materials such as metals, wood, cement and can even cause discolouration of the surfaces.
Environmental Impact: If it is not used properly, it is toxic to plants, pets, marine life and your personal environment. Draining this product also causes contamination of soil and water.
Short-Term Effect: Although eliminated fast, it will need more of the product in the upcoming weeks and months and beyond .
MouldEx: It works by altering the cell membranes of these organisms, causing their death over time and restricting regrowth.
The disadvantages are: MouldEx is slower to react. It might take several days or weeks to show the full effectiveness.
Advantages:
Durable protection: Prevents the regrowth of moss and algae for many months after treatment, providing a long-lasting solution.
Soft with the Surfaces: It is less corrosive than Sodium Hypochlorite and safer for use around surrounding materials like wood, cement and metal.
Less harmful to the environment: While MouldEx is also a chemical, it is safer for plants and pets and your personal environment.
